See the personal website of the owner" Despite a car being essential to make the most of your holiday and exploring further afield there are plenty of walks from just outside the chalet. It is an easy 20 minute walk to Barboleusaz where there is a boulangerie, supermarket and a couple of restaurants and in the other direction lies Solalex which is cut off in winter but is a superb hike for the whole family in summer. Within 500 metres of the chalet there is an excellent restaurant 'Cookies' if you feel like a change from cooking one evening. From Barboleusaz you can take the tram to Villars with its numerous cafes and shops. Take the mountain train up to Brettaye where there are kilometers of walks and bike paths in the summer and skiing in the winter. Visit Bex and the salt mines in the valley, local vineyards and thermal baths of Lavey-les-bains and many more attractions along the lakeside which is a half hour drive away. Montreux, Chateau Chillon, Lausanne are easily reached by car or take one of the old paddle steamers across the lake. For the more adventurous Gruyere, Chamonix, Mont Blanc, Geneva and Bern are all longer day trips. "

Means of access :
A car is essential. The chalet is situated about five minutes drive above the village of Barboleusaz, up a short but steep road (snow cleared daily in winter), followed by a climb up a couple of flights of steps to the chalet which are also snow cleared in the winter. It is only a short drive down to the main lift in Barboleusaz which links the whole Villars - Les Diablerets area. A 4x4 car or cars equipped with snow chains are essential in winter. Even though there is a handrail up the side of the steps, access may be difficult for some elderly people during winter when the snow is lying. Young children need supervision at all times going up and down the steps.In the area:

"A high quality well appointed chalet in a tranquil mountain setting. The perfect balance between access to the village and to cross-country and downhill skiing. As described, a car is necessary (with snow-tyres and chains in winter) and will make a stay much easier but the village is within walking distance. The chalet is however so comfortable and the view of the mountain opposite so stunning that staying in is also a pleasure!"

"Le chalet est maginifique et très bien équipé. Il y règne un silence superbe, et le cadre qui l''entoure est splendide. Il faut effectivement des chaînes ou des pneus neige pour grimper le chemin d''accès (surtout les 100 derniers mètres). En revanche, il est vraiment éloigné du centre du village. La distance affichée sur le site est un peu en deçà de la réalité et surtout la voiture est nécessaire. Il est illusoire de penser faire toute la semaine à pied. Mais l''impression globale est très bonne et je ne regrette pas mon séjour."
