" Latomia is a tranquil, spiritual setting with unobstructed breath-taking views of the Laconian gulf, the island of Elafonisos and the Mani Peninsula. The traditional stone, red-tile roof house with wooden beam ceilings is set in a gently sloped park-like garden and is within walking distance of a long sandy white beach with crystal-clear blue waters. The house is the upper house of three which can be rented either together or separately. House layout is a large open plan living room/bedroom with adjoining kitchen and bathroom with bathtub. Another bedroom is on the lower floor accessible by stairs on the outside of the house. The northern rock-faced boundary has four caves formed during the ice age. A tsobanakos bird perches on huge sculptured rocks as it sings to the rosy dawn. The emerging daylight colors the pink-white caper blossoms, silver green olive groves, yellow onion fields and purple wild thyme. With the setting sun, the turquoise sea darkens to red and owls echo as night falls to the rising moon. A truly magical place. a perfect location for an artist's retreat. "
" Latomia is part of an ancient quarry located near the property. Other historical sites nearby include the base of a pyramid, ancient tombs and carriage tracks in stone, trailing into the sea. Windsurfing on Pounta Beach is a significant attraction for many Europeans as is the wetland of Strongyli Limni behind it. The island of Elafonisos is a 10min ferry ride with famous beach of Simos. Excursions are possible to the byzantine fortress of Monemvasia; to Gythion, the ancient harbor of Sparta; to Mystras, the last bastion of medieval Greece and the Paleologos dynasty with its sacred murals, churches and Frank castle. Visit the famous city state of Sparta built in the shadow of Taygetos Mountain. The caves of Diros, considered one of the most beautiful in Europe are a two hour drive though the Mani peninsula and the smaller but equally stunning Caves of Kastania are only 20 kms away with a scenic drive and lovely nearby beach. The hiking footpaths of Maleas offer wonderful tracks ideal for walking between villages, open to adventure and discovery including the petrified forest at Agiou Nikolaou. "

Means of access A private road (170m) links Latomia to public bus transport in the village of Viglafia which travels to Neapoli(15km). The main road between Neapoli and Sparta is(135kms), Athens (350 kms), Kalamata (158kms)or Patra (371kms). A sign to the right, on the main road from Sparta and about 10kms before Neapoli directs you to Viglafia and Elafonisos. Ferry boats transport from Ancona, Brindisi or Venice to Patra and from the island of Kythira to Neapoli. Both Kalamata and Kythira have airports. Daily flights are available from Athens to Kythira. Cheap flights are available from Easyjet.co.uk from London and other European cities to Athens. Charter flights are available from London to Kalamata on Sundays only by Air 2000. Renting a car from arrival airports is recommended and we could organise taxi from Athens airport for about 40 Euros per person if requested. Rail service is available from Athens airport to Corinth.
