Best points Very peaceful house in a quiet neighborhood on the north shore of Staten Island. Parking is available, a backyard, a screened outdoor porch, and within easy walking distance of stores and markets. The main bedroom is a large loft type bedroom on the second floor of the house, appropriate for two adults. There is a smaller fold out bed in the smaller bedroom big enough for two children (we can also put a futon in this room for bigger children). In the event children accompany adults there is a $50 dollar surcharge.

Means of access The house is on the North shore of Staten Island and is a ten minute bus or taxi ride from the Staten Island ferry to Manhattan. The ferry operates 24 hours a day and there is a boat in either direction every 30 minutes, every 20 minutes at rush hour. The cost of a taxi to the ferry is approx. 6 dollars, the ferry to Manhattan is free. For a sejour its best to buy an Unlimited Ride Metro Card.
Hints and Tips The house provides a getaway from Manhattan yet easy access via its proximity to the Staten Island Ferry. The house is within walking distance to a public golf course and park. A car can be parked in the driveway. For families with younger children especially, its a nice way to spend the daylight hours in Manhattan, and then escape at night or late afternoon when there isn't that much for kids to do in Manhattan. In the spring and summer there are ample areas to sit in or outside the house with shorts and shoes off so its a bit of the country in the city. The back yard is walled and private. A supermarket, drug store, restaurant, Starbucks, liquor store and cleaners is a five minute walk up the street.
