" Situated near the top of a hill with panoramic views of the nearby sea and the surrounding hills and valleys, Villa Francesca covers 85 square meters of self contained holiday accommodation on a beautifully landscaped plot of 526 square meters, filled with lots of interesting flowers and features. The villa has been furnished to a very high standard and the pool is fully tiled. Margaret and Tony (the managers) live at the bottom of the road so are always on hand to help with any queries or problems you may have during your stay.
This year the owner has fitted two water tanks on the roof which hold 2,000lts of water therefore there should be no problems if there are water shortages on the Island.

" Beaches
As you would expect from a Mediterranean island, there are loads of beaches all around Crete. Some are pure sand, others are pebbly and coarser sand. With all these beaches you can plan your day to spend part of it visiting towns, historical sites or sites of interest, or shopping, and then spend the rest of the day on a beach! You can also choose isolated beaches if you look carefully.
Rethymnon
Overflowing with history and its amazing Venetian and Turkish architecture, Rethymnon is built around the harbour with its bustling harbour life. This traditional town is packed with atmosphere, the second largest in Crete, where narrow, shop-lined alleyways and beautiful old houses mix with bars, restaurants and tavernas. There is a lively nightlife here with a range of discos and clubs, if you fancy a night out. The beachfront promenade boasts more shops, bars and tavernas. The beach, which extends east for 14 kms, starts in the middle of the town. If you decide to eat in Rethymnon, you must try the fish dishes; the freshly caught fish is mouth-watering!.
Samaria Gorge
The longest gorge in Europe at 18 kms is very well known for its incredible beauty. The gorge is only 3 metres wide at some points along the route and the sides of the gorge rise to a height of some 600 metres. A stream flows through the gorge between the White Mountains and the Volikas mountain. Approximately 43 km south of the town of Chania, hiking through the Samaria Gorge is only allowed between May to October.

Means of access Proceed from Heraklion on the national road towards Rethymno and Chania for approx 80 kilometers (50 miles) and look for the right turn signposted Platanias (Platanias) and Arkadi. Turn right and proceed to the bottom of the road (approx 100 metres, be careful of the deep drains across the road). This is Platanes (Platanias). Galaxy Car Hire is on the right corner at the bottom. To the right is the resort with all the shops, supermarkets, hotels, restaurants and roads to the beach. Turn left and almost immediately left again on the Arkadi road. Follow this road for approximately 3.5 kms. Pass under the bridge and on the left hand bend look out for LIDL on your right, your nearest bulk supermarket. Keep on this road, without turning off, through Tsesmes and Adele. Immediately after Adele take the turning to the right for Agia Triada. Keep on this road for approximately 2.5 kms. You will notice that the road begins to climb somewhat, because Agia Triada is in the hills. After about 2.5 kms, you will come to an orange bin by the right side of the road under a Telegraph Pole with a sharp turning (doubling back on itself) to the right. Turn right here. Be prepared for a steep climb (first or second gear only). After the villa on the left, take the first sharp left turn and follow this road for approximately 100 metres, Triada Views is the first villa on the left.
