" Ideally located, Very peaceful, All mod cons, Tastefully decorated, Discount for long stay, Large terrace, In the heart of Santa Maria marina village, Ponza is seen by many of its visitors as a less-spoilt - and cheaper - version of Capri, and is frequented by the rich and famous who like to keep a lower profile on holiday, as well as by hordes of young Romans who visit for the weekend in summer. The island's main settlements are Ponza Porto, around the harbour, and Le Forna, to the north. The cheapest option for staying on Ponza is to rent a room on the island. Several agencies deal with lettings. Rooms are usually very basic, and most are located around Le Forna rather than the port. Hotels cater for those wanting a little more comfort or reluctant to commit themselves to a week-long visit. Reachable in a few hours from Rome, the island boasts clean and limpid waters. Holidaymakers swim from beaches, from rocks, and from boats (available for organised trips or to hire at the port). There are some excellent restaurants on Ponza, as well as a few options for late-night drinking and dancing.There aren't many tourist sights or monuments on Ponza: the island's main appeal is its landscape, shoreline and atmosphere. Boat trips enable visitors to explore the other Pontine Islands, including the nature reserve of Zannone. "

" Restaurants: A CASA DI ASSUNTA, ANTICO MURENARIO, LA BUSSOLA, LA PALMA, SILVIA. For travelling around the shorelines, or between the islands, boats are the obvious option. If you haven't arrived in your own yacht, small boats can be hired cheaply on Ponza and Ventotene. You can also take trips to the smaller islands, with time usually set aside for swimming. On Ponza, the largest of the islands, a bus service connects the settlements of Ponza Porto and Le Forna. The principal beach, Chiaia di Luna, is a few minutes on foot from the port. "

Means of access :
Rome is the best airport and starting point for the islands, although Naples is also an option. Ferries and hydrofoils run to Ponza from Anzio (42km), which is an hour's train journey from Rome. Other ferries travel to Ponza and Ventotene from Terracina and Formia, both on the Latina coastline between Rome and Naples. In the summer there is also a hydrofoil service from the island of Ischia to Ponza. Services are drastically reduced outside the main tourist season (which runs roughly May-September). Ventotene can be reached from Formia with Vetor (55mins).In the area:

"Maison ancien rénovée et divisée en 2 duplex mitoyen. Conforme à la discription, propre, agréable. Un seul clé disponible pour 5 personnes. Un tarif de location plutôt élevé pour les finitions: 1 siege longue pour 5 personnes. Barbecue minuscule/rouillé. Robinetterie cuisine qui laisse à désirer. Système électrique suspect :fil électrique apparent dans la salle de bain, et impossible de mettre la main dans le tambour de la machine à laver le linge sans se prendre du courant électrique! Siege wc mal adapté.Sommiers de lit double un peu bricolés. Il suffirait de peu pour améliorer cette location qui a un beau potentiel. Maison bien placée, avec belle vue sur les habitations et la mer vers la droite mais du fait de sa position en haut de la colline, le son est amplifié: aboiements de chiens et passages des voitures pourraient empêcher les plus sensibles de dormir, sans évoquer les voisins dans l’autre partie de la maison. Quelques surprises concernant les plages à proximité (location mois août): plages totalement envahies par des parkings à bâteaux ou fermée pour cause de chute de rochers. Il a été difficile d’accèder aux autres plages, besoin de transport ou voiture quand on a la chance de pouvoir se garer! Ponza est quand même très beau, et vaut le détour par cette location."

"La casa ha una vista stupenda ed è arredata con tanto gusto. L''infrastruttura e le attrezzature sono più che sufficienti. Supermercati e centro di Santa Maria raggiungibili a piedi; anche il porto è raggiungibile in 10 minuti a piedi. In un tale contesto la nostra vacanza non poteva che essere stupenda."
