This prestigious two story villa includes 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a kitchen, living room, and dining area. Dating from the 13th-14th century, this historic building is protected by the Italian Landmark Preservation Society, and has been painstakingly restored according to its rules and regulations. Originally a single Medieval manor, the villa was split into three separate residences during the final reconstruction in 1992. La Dimora di Piero occupies the choicest part of the building and land, offering enhanced privacy and beautiful views of the olive trees, vineyards, and valley below.
House Layout
This 110 square meter house comfortably sleeps five people, though an additional bed can be added to accommodate an extra person. The upstairs master bedroom features a private bath and shower. The 2nd upstairs bedroom features two twin beds, while the 3rd upstairs bedroom is more petite with a single twin bed. While there are only 10 steps, it may be important in planning your stay that the bedrooms and bathrooms are only accessible by the stairs.
The living room has a large working fireplace, a comfortable couch, and three large windows to bring in light and fresh air. The kitchen is fully functional with high quality appliances including a refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, oven, and a stately 5 burner gas stove. The villa is located 1km northeast of the town of Olmo di Fiesole along the Strade Provincale 84, and is best reached by private car. If you have been to Italy, then you know that driving can be an adventure, and a good rural map will be useful. If you are coming from the north or from Florence, the best bet is find your way to Olmo di Fiesole then follow the directions listed below. Detailed Directions From Olmo di Fiesole
Continue north on Via Faentina (SR 302) through Olmo. Pass a large restaurant on the left and a parking lot across the street on the right. This is the closest SITA bus stop to and from Florence. Continue 500 meters through a bend to the right and hairpin left till you arrive at the first “T” intersection. Take a right here. This is Via Masseto, which is a short 50 meter climb to a four way intersection. Pass straight through the intersection and onto the Strada Provinciale 84, following the signs for Molin del Piano - S.Brigida. Follow the road for the next kilometer, as it heads up a gentle hill and slopes down to the right. As you head down the hill you will see the tower of the villa on your left. Take the first drive way before you pass the house, then proceed right towards the house. The parking lot is just past the house on the right.
Hints and Tips Surroundings:
Within the radius of a few kilometers, there are several historic sanctuaries, churches and buildings to explore, as well as a castle, amazing wineries, and of course, great restaurants. The property is also bordered by a communally protected forest, which makes for less neighbors, great hiking, and the opportunity to glimpse rare flora and fauna.
It’s easy to sink into the peacefulness of the valley here, but should you want to explore more by car, the central location of the property makes it easy reach the surrounding towns of Santa Brigida (4km), Fiesole (8km), Molin del Piano (10km), and Borgo San Lorenzo (16km). The designer outlets at Barberino del Mugello and di Incisa Valdarno are a bit farther, but still easily reachable, and the city of Florence is only 11km away. If you are willing to walk 1km to the bus stop, there is also a SITA bus to take you down.
