" In central Tuscany, outside of Siena, on a forrested hill near the expansive natural reserve known as the Val d'Orcia, there are two farmhouses. Called Malabiccia and Poggi, these structures were first documented in the topographic maps of Casato Leopoldino. Constructed from stone, wood, and terra cotta, these historic residences are examples of the flawless bio-architecture of the 1700s. In the last 25 years, the homes have been brought to new life with a long and respectful restoration.
Nearby at 800 meters, lies the walled village of Petroio, the birthplace of Tuscan terracotta. Continuing the very long tradition, Petroio currently produces handmade jugs, vases, large garden vessels, and statues of utmost quality which are exported all over the world. To commemorate this history and ensure its public appreciation, the town has recently opened a Terracotta Museum exibiting contemporary and antique works. "

Means of access Da Roma o Firenze imboccare l'Autostrada del Sole A1. Uscire al casello Valdichiana e seguire le indicazioni per Sinalunga. Arrivati a Sinalunga, prendere la direzione per Torrita di Siena. Dopo un chilometro lungo la strada per Torrita, vicino a un grande viale di cipressi, incontrerai a destra l'indicazione PETROIO. Sali fino al paesino di Petroio e all' incrocio con il monumento dei caduti gira a destra. 300 metri dopo il ponte gira alla prima stradina bianca a sinistra. Altri 300 metri e gira di nuovo a sinistra. La prima casa che incontri è Malabiccia. Sei arrivato!
