Newly renovated air conditioned Apartment

This second floor apartment is located two blocks back from the Promenade des Anglais and so is an easy stroll to the beach and to eating places. There is a small elevator in the building so, with four of us and luggage, it took two trips to get our belongings up to the apartment. Without luggage, all four of us fitted in fine. The apartment represented a good value for money option for us. It has two bedrooms and did not feel cramped like many French apartments can do. The master bedroom has a decent sized bed (not sure if it's a king or a generous-sized queen) although one of the twin beds in the other room was considered somewhat uncomfortable by one of my teenage children. There is a small balcony outside the kitchen area if you wish to people-watch as you eat breakfast. The apartment has some English language DVDs and we enjoyed watching the BBC World News service after a couple of weeks of news deprivation. There is free wifi in the apartment but, despite having the code, we had some difficulties getting Internet access. This could be our iPhones - I'm not sure. There is a local contact and, if we had have been really concerned about it, we could have called him. There is a washing machine and good air conditioning in the apartment (both bedrooms and the lounge) so, along with the modernised decor, it is a comfortable apartment. One thing to be aware of is that the bedroom curtains in both rooms are do not block out light. I had a really good eye shade with me but if you need 'dark' to sleep well like I do, come prepared. A word about parking. It's a nightmare to have a car in Nice and, unless you want to drive around the corniches or similar, you don't need one here. In fact we elected to take our France car rental back early once we got to Nice. There is notarised parking on the street outside the apartment but as it is near a small Lidl, everyone double parks, it is not easy ot manouevre in, or out, easily. The nearest parking building (Massena) is a fair distance away if you do decide you need a car. Summary: If you want inexpensive accommodation that is walking distance to the beach, this is a very good option. It is clean, modern and very comfortable.
