The apartment is located in the Yorkville neighbourhood near the corner of 1st Avenue. It is a 15 minute walk uphill to the 96th/Lexington Ave subway and about 20 minutes to Central Park and the Museum Mile area. East Harlem is just a few blocks north. At the time of our stay, there was major building work underway in both East 94th Street and 2nd Avenue which made coming and going from the apartment rather unpleasant, i.e. noisy and dusty with pedestrian detours. This advertisement appears to cover more than one apartment. The kitchen, living and bathroom of the apartment in which we were accommodated (2C) were similar, but not the same, as those shown in the photographs. All rooms in our apartment looked onto brick walls except the main bedroom which looked over the street. There was very little natural light in our apartment, unlike the kitchens depicted in the ad. The apartment was clean, as were the towels. The beds were reasonably comfortable. Tea towels and tea spoons were supplied promptly following our request. There was a kettle in the kitchen - but no appliance for making fresh coffee. The bathroom is small with an exceptionally tiny sink that it is not suitable for hand washing underwear etc. There is, however, a laundry in the same street. Listed under ‘additional services’ in the ad is, ‘Airport transport on demand.’ By email, before our stay, I was told that we could use the transport service and that the cost would be $70, which would be cheaper than a taxi. In fact, $70 is slightly more expensive than the standard cab fare to JFK, ($52-57). The Sublet4U representative that I dealt with while staying in the apartment told me that the driver is a third party not associated with Sublet4U. On our arrival we asked about late checkout and were told that it could not be confirmed until a few days before we checked out. Late checkout was later refused because of incoming tenants. Sublet4U does not store luggage after checkout even though they have an office in a building just two doors away. The owner suggested that we take our bags to a paying storage facility at Penn station in Midtown in between check out time and going to the airport.
"Awesome place!! Very clean, comfortable, safe, great location, me and my friends loved it. It's also very quiet at night. It was even better than we thought."
