Period Farmhouse - The View!
Ireland, Leinster - Meath
Best points about the property:
" This four bed traditional farmhouse stands on 8 acres of landscaped gardens, vegetable patches and prime agricultural land. Due to its location and tranquility it is ideal accomodation for families with young children. Retaining many of its original features this stunning property has period elegance but with contemporary style. The extension, which is extremely sensitive to the character of the original house, allows for well-proportioned light filled accommodation. The kitchen is new, there is oil-fired central heating supplemented by a wood burning stove. All windows are double glazed and the house enjoys a southerly aspect. Local attractions inlcude Newgrange tomb, golf, great walks and fishing on the River Boyne. "

Hints and tips from the owner:
" The county of Meath is a treasure trove of archeological and historical sites. In the Boyne Valley are Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth with their Neolithic tombs and monuments (older thatn the Egyptian pyramids). The Hill of Tara was a centre of pagan workship from 2100 BC and seat of the High Kings of Ireland until the 11th Century. The Norman castle at Trim constructed by Hugh de Lacy in 1172 was visited by King John in 1610 and 400 years later by Mel Gibson for the filming of Braveheart. A short drive takes you to sites such as Fore Abbey in County Westmeath with its 'seven wonders' or the the town of Kells famed for St. Columba's 6th monastery and the Book that bears its name now on display in Trinity College Dublin The newly opened Meath Arts Centre in Navan provides entertainment for all tastes with art exhibitions, musicals, choral festivals, dramas etc regularly taking place. Like any large town it has good shopping and is moments away. There are also a wide variety of leisure and recreational facilities such as golf (Royal Tara), football, athletics, horse-riding, Navan's Leisure Link Centre and the Rugby Club and Tennis club to mention but a few. A quick trip to Dublin is also possible with easy access, via the N2, N3 and proposed M3 Motorway, to the Irish capital and all it has to offer. This is a perfect haven for those who want to escape the chaos and commotion of city life to the sanctuary of country living in a scenic, rural yet still convenient location. "

"What a pleasant stay ! The house was very large, cumfortable and very well equipped. A perfect welcome from Brendan, many thanks to him and to Daniel for their kindness and "disponibilité" (in french !) The country is very quiet and Dublin is not far from Navan. So, it is an ideal place to discover Ireland... and to come back again ! (Sorry for my bad written english !)"
"Wonderful place and wonderful house! Inside you can find everything you may need during the stay! The area around is also very beautiful and the availability and kindness of the owner is great! I would suggest it for your holidays in Eire!"
And many thanks to Brendan !"
