Best points Ideally located, this 19th century farmhouse situated in the Pays d'Auge region of Calvados guarantees you a calm and stressfree holiday. You will receive a warm welcome from your hosts Leo & Resa and they will be happy to share their knowledge of the area and point you in the right direction for interesting places to visit. We are ideally situated to visit Paris (train station nearby), Seaside, Normandy landing beaches, WW2 memorial sites and museums. The picturesque fishing port of Honfleur is an hour and a half drive away. There is lots more to see and do you only need to ask for advice. The roads are virtually trafic free which facitilates a very laid-back and easy way to view the beautiful landscape. We feel privileged to live in a place of such outstanding beauty and it would be our pleasure to share this with you.
Crannog is set in its own grounds surrounded by pastures and meadows. Our guest bedrooms are warm (central heating)comfortable and spacious. Two having private toilet, shower facilities are beamed and offer beautiful views of the countryside. Each bedroom has tea/coffee making facilities. The dining room has been restored in keeping with the era of the house (1850's), with its open red brick faced fireplace, original tiled floor and large oak dining table, where you will be served a healthy, delicious breakfast or if preferred (weather permitting) breakfast can be served on the terrace. We are open all year round.

Hints and Tips Where do I begin!! There is so much to do in the region I could fill a full page and more with the activities. Let me mention a few. Of course every town worth its salt has its own market day. There are a few exceptionally good ones really worth a visit i.e. L'Aigle has one of the biggest outdoor markets in France. There are hundreds of stalls, selling anything from furniture, baskets to live animals (pot bellied pigs). It's about 30kms drive. St Pierre sur Dives is a particularly interesting one, it being held in a 12th century hall. Lisieux market is held on Saturday morning and is another one well worth a visit. There are over 300 cheeses manufactured in France, 3 of the most famous ones are made here locally. Camembert, Livarot and Pont L'Eveque. It is possible to visit the factories, and museums and make your purchase as you wish. There are horse and donkey fairs, plant and tree fairs from spring to autumn in many of the towns in the region. The tree fair in Lisieux is very famous and has been a regular event for many centuries. Mid summers day is a huge music event in the French calendar. Many of the bigger towns invite musicians to entertain the crowds (free) for the day. The whole town is pedestrianised and the atmosphere is wonderful. There are many cultural events and many of the museums are open to the public one day of the year free of charge. There are so many things to do you will be spoilt for choice.
