" SIGHSEEING: Within short walking distance you could visit «Bairro Alto», the «Elevador da Bica», «Chiado», the «Ruins of Convento do Carmo», the «Rossio» and «Comércio» squares, «Alfama» and the «Castelo de São Jorge». On a second day go to «Belém». Once you’re there, don’t forget to treat yourself with a «Pastel de Nata» at the famous «Pasteis de Belém» café. SHOPPING: «Chiado» is definitely the best area in the center for shopping, from clothing and books to exquisite souvenirs. If you are more into trendy stuff, «Bairro Alto» is the place to go. For antiques and all sorts of «bric à brac» go to «Feira da Ladra», a popular flea market in «Campo de Santa Clara». EATING: «Bairro Alto» has plenty of good restaurants. «Adega das Mercês» and «Sinal Vermelho» are 2 of my favorites. NIGHTLIFE: If entertainment is what you’re looking for, don’t go any further! In «Bairro Alto», just at the apartment doorstep, you will find innumerous options, from all sorts of tacky bars to the trendiest pubs of the Lisbon’s nightlife scene. Going downhill, across «Bica», you definitely should not miss «Lounge», a cool alternative bar for those who try to avoid the crowds. BEACH & SURROUNDINGS: You should enjoy the proximity of beautiful beaches, like «Cascais» and «Guincho» and visit world heritage sites like «Sintra», an impressive village located in the suburbs of Lisbon. Take a suburban train at «Cais do Sodré» for the first option, and at «Rossio» for the second one. Means of access :

I you come from the airport it’s just a 15 minutes taxi ride (around 10€). You can also take the «Airport Shuttle Bus», drop of in the «Rossio Square» and walk all the way up to «Bairro Alto» through the «Escadinhas do Duque», a stairway street with beautiful views over the Lisbon’s city center and the «Castelo de São Jorge» (the castle). If you’re driving you can leave your car safely in the nearby car parks of the «Camões Square» (36€ per day) or «Santa Catarina» (14€ per day). You can take also the metro, exit on the «Baixa-Chiado» station and walk for 2 minutes towards «Bairro Alto». The «Rossio» and «Cais do Sodré» train stations are only 5 minutes away from the apartment. The famous Tram nº 28 and many city buses can leave you almost at the apartment door step…
