" Casa degli Archi is a cosy house with a small garden terrace among the olive trees completely restored in 2006.Dosso is a small historic centre: only twelve families reside there throughout the year; the house is a short walking distance from the public free parking (about 60 meters). Cars are forbidden and there are no shops. Some local peasants still take care of olive trees and vineyards and oil and wine can be purchased from them. At the same time, in fefteen minutes drive, you reach Levanto where you can enjoy the beautiful seaside, many free beaches as well as organized beach clubs (one with swimming pool) , a nice open air market every Wednesday, a fruit, vegetable and fish market every day and, of course, shops, boutiques, cinemas, coffee-houses and a great number of restaurants and pizzerias. The Cinque Terre can be easily reached by foot or by local train leaving from Levanto railway station and making stops at Monterosso (5 minutes train), Vernazza (10 m. train), Corniglia (20 m. train), Manarola (25 m. train), Riomaggiore (30 m. train). Wonderful walks connect Levanto to the villages of the Cinque Terre and from one to the other. From Levanto there is also a daily service by boat to the Cinque Terre, Portovenere and Portofino. The main cities near Dosso are: Genova, 80 km far (74 in highway). Pisa, 102 km far (98 in highway) Lucca, 100 km far (91 in highway) Firenze, 160 km far (150 in highway). " There are many beautiful walks round Dosso, we suggest the dipped in the green walk Dosso-Foce di Dosso-Bardellone-Dosso with a gourmet stop at the Bardellone farm restaurant at a quite good price.At Lavaggiorosso (20 minutes walk – 5 minutes drive ) try the trattoria “Da Zita” for a lunch or a dinner “home made”. Dosso is an ideal place for jogging and mountainbiking. At Levanto there are many coffees, bar, pizzerie and restaurants of high level. Local specialties are rice pie, “pesto”, fried bread and above all gattafin ( big fried ravioli filled with vegetables ). Here in summer there are special events like classic music concerts, antique and handicraft markets,village feasts with stalls, fires of artifice (25 July) and religious procession (16 August), tennis tournaments,ecc. Levanto is also very much appreciated by people keen of surf, kite-surf and windsurf.
