There are structures which almost certainly predate the Birth of Christ by some 2,000 years.Dunvegan Castle with its glorious gardens is situated 18 miles to the west. The castle, is the oldest inhabited castle in Scotland and the most visited destination on the Isle of Skye.Talisker Distillery on the shores of Loch Harport. Take a tour and have a sample of Skye's own single malt whisky. "

Means of access :

directions from England: Take the A74 (M74), follow the Stirling signs, stay on the motorway and then turn left at Dunblane to Callander, Crianiarich, Fort William, Spean Bridge then Kyle of Lochalsh and over the Skye Bridge. From Edinburgh: Take the A9 to Dalwhinnie, turn off to Loch Laggan, Spean Bridge then north on the A82 until the turn off for Kyle of Lochalsh and over the Skye Bridge. From the Skye Bridge: From the Skye Bridge take the A87 to Portree. At Portree High School take a left turn and continue on the A87 signposted to Uig. After 3.5 miles branch left on to the A850 signposted Dunvegan. Stoney Cottage is the 4th house on the left along this road.

"La casa è molto bella, arredata in modo originale. Vi è ampia attrezzatura per famiglie con bambini e vi era addirittura una cuccia e copertine per pelosi al seguito. L''unico appunto riguarda l''attrezzatura della cucina. Il forno funzionava solo un ripiano, altro no. Mancavano delle padelle. Ne abbiamo comprato una noi, con fondo antiaderente, che abbiamo lasciato in dotazione della casa. E mancavano anche dei bicchieri per la birra e il wisky ...beh in Scozia ci vogliono!!! Per il resto, vi è di tutto. Siamo rimasti soddisfatti. La casa è situata a pochi chilometri da Portree, ha vicino il supermercato e si trova in una poszione strategica per visitare la parte centrale e settentrionale dell''isola. La coppia di signori che ci ha accolto sabato sono stati molto garbati e disponibili. Li salutiamo e ringraziamo. Insomma un posto che consigliamo."
