In winter, the North West of Italy is dedicated to
winter sports, as in

where the season lasts from the end of September to the start of May and where the resort of
Sestrière regularly hosts world cup down-hill skiing.
What is more, the numerous ski lifts in the area offer views of the most beautiful landscapes which justify their rave reviews !
Courmayeur, situated in the
Aoste valley is itself now a place strongly associated with mountaineering,
skiing and also for
great hiking in the summer.
However, Italy isn't just known for the North West in winter. Why not try visiting

Milan and
Mont Blanc, experience the ubiquitous Italian culture or enjoy a romantic sleigh ride as it glides through a magical, snow steeped landscape.
The vast ski areas available offer the possibility of taking part in other activities and not only skiing in all its different forms... sledging, snow hiking, sleigh rides, ice skating, bobsledding, curling. Why not go abroad for winter sports this year, it is surely worth it even if only for the change of scenery !
