" The Chateau d'Esparron is a listed historic building and has been in the Castellane family ever since its foundation in the 13th century. The imposing defensive tower and the broad stone spiral staircase are particularly remarkable. In restoring the château we have been careful to preserve its original character and charm whilst making it comfortable and welcoming for our guests in the large self catering flat located in the medieval part of the house. The flat has an added bonus in the form of an adjoining room in the 13th century tower, a unique place to stretch out in a deck chair and relax or to eat in the cool of a summer evening. "

See the personal website of the owner" Esparron-de-Verdon is situated in the Verdon Natural Park, and while the breathtaking Verdon Canyon should not be missed, the whole area is one of outstanding natural beauty. The village overlooks the clear waters of the Lac d'Esparron, one of a string of lakes along the Verdon river, and very pleasant for swimming and boating. Food : The Bistrot 04 92 77 16 64 copious freshly-prepared salads and traditional dishes. Quinson is only 15 minutes drive away and here you will find one of our favourite restaurants, the family-run Relais Notre Dame, which has been serving traditional provençal food for generations. Even the puddings are home-made from scratch and you can tell! "
