" Stay in an 18th century villa in the heart of Andalucia. When you're tired of relaxing in the swimming pool in our tree lined garden visit the glorious cultural centres of Seville, Cordoba and Granada (all within easy reach) or just wander about Ecija and discover its palaces, convents and churches.
The renovation of this elegant 18th century house was done by local architects and artisans, but the furniture is mostly colonial Indian with French modern art on the walls.
There are 4 double bedrooms (2 with single beds, 2 with double beds), all with shared but direct access to large bathrooms with shower and toilet. There is also an extra large room with 2 single beds and a cot suitable for children.
The kitchen is very big and well appointed, allowing more than one cook to feed large families. On the other hand, eating out offers very good value (unlike on the Spanish coast) so you don't have to spend all your time in the kitchen. Take advantage of the many Tapas bars within easy walking distance for a taste of real Spanish cuisine and very reasonably priced drinks (typically around €1 for a glass of wine or beer).
Indoors you can enjoy the well appointed library with a CD and DVD collection as well our 1000 or so books in English and French.
The spacious living room has a large open fire place for burning olive wood on the few weeks in the year when the evening temperature drops under 15° C.
Outside,in typical Andalusian fashion, we have a pretty patio with a fountain, orange trees, jasmin and rose bushes, surrounded by arches. "
" Inland Andalucia is the real Spain! Away from the busy coastal developments, discover the true heart of this fascinating province. The best times to visit are spring, when orange trees bloom and autumn when the summer heat has abated. Festivals are a year round affair, from Carnival to Semana Santa to Seville's Feria, pilgrimages and horse fairs.
See the most important sights of Andalucia (the great Mosque of Cordoba, the Alcazar Palace in Seville, and the Alhambra in Granada) or wander about Ecija and discover its many palaces, convents and churches.
Cordoba.
The great mosque of Cordoba, a marvel of medieval Islamic architecture, is only one of the attractions of this historic city. The small streets of the "Juderia", the archeological site of Medinat-al Zahara, the medieval fortress of Almodovar del Rio are all fascinating sites to be discovered from Ecija.(50km on the A4 motorway)
Seville.
The capital of Andalucia Seville has charmed its visitors since Carmen seduced Don José in front of the tabacco factory (now the University). The cathedral and its tower "La Giralda", the royal palaces of the Alcazar with their gardens, the barrio Santa Cruz with its tapas bars are all less than an hour away. (80kms on the A4)
Grenada.
A World Heritage site, Granada you must not miss with the Alhambra, a sublime moorish palace, its gardens and its position at the foot of the soaring Sierra Nevada. Granada is less than 2 hours away (A92).
For walkers, nature parks with marked trails abound: Sierra de Hornachuelos, Donana bird sanctuary, Sierra Norte. "
