" Gortnarup House is brilliant place to spend your holiday and was REVIEWED 2011 IN THE IRISH TIMES as being ONE OF THE BEST PLACES TO STAY IN IRELAND. From Gortanrup House it is easy to discover all of the OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY of Connemara: the lakes, stunning scenery and the white sand beaches. This is also a famous fishing area, situated between two of the biggest fresh water lakes in Ireland, the Lough Mask and the Lough Corrib. Brown trout and salmon are the local fish waiting to be caught by you. Gortnarup House is great value for money. It is interior designed to a high standard and has great views. There is a genuine nostalgic atmosphere in this 18th Century house which our guests fall in love with. It is very comfortable and has ensuite bathrooms for all the bedrooms. We used all natural local materials like stone and wood throughout and we have a wood burning stove. From our bedroom you can see the lake. The rooms are big and spacious with high ceilings. Children LOVE it here, and Ireland loves children. We are a 20 min walk through lovely lanes to the village of Clonbur which has real Irish pubs and two great restaurants. There is much to see and do in the area. You will adore this house as it is a rare genuine Irish experience. You are GUARANTEED a restful holiday in some of the purest air in Europe with no pollution and no noise - all PROVEN to give great results for your HEALTH! "A beautiful and charming house in a very peaceful and quiet area. The house is comfy and cosy, and very well situated, in the heart of Conemara. We were very pleased with it. We loved visiting around, the village of Cong is lovely, and Ashford Castle, very close, is breathtaking."

"It was a very nice house, quiet and confortable with character. The only point of dicussion can be the way to have hot water and heat. If somebobody used water for washmachine or shower, noboby can have water upstairs. "

"The house is very comfortable and very quiet and is even more beautiful than what it appears on the pictures. The village of Clonbur and the surrounding villages and nature are exactly what you are hoping for when you go in Ireland. We strongly recommend this house for people who are looking for quietness, nature and friendly villages. Note: it is not the first time that we rent houses in Europe and in this particular case, we were pleased to find out on our arrival that the house was generously supplied in terms of basic items such as soap, sugar, toilet paper, etc. It may looks trivial but being on a jet lag, it is appreciated not to have to run for these essential things on the first day."

Das Ferienhaus entsprach nur in seiner wunderschönen Lage zwischen den Loughs unseren Vorstellungen. Der Preis ist der eines 5 Sterne Hauses, das Haus entspricht in seinem Zustand lediglich max. zwei Sternen. Davon einmal abgesehen, dass es bei unserer Ankunft nicht sauber war (Badezimmer, Spinn- und Staubweben in allen Räumen, verdreckte Teppiche,...) hat uns vor allem der intensive Schimmelgeruch im Wohnraum und unteren Schlafraum gestört. Diese beiden Räume sind nicht bewohnbar.
