" La Bastide des Lavandieres is located in the village of Canaules deep in the Languedoc wine producing region of the south of France . Originally constructed during the 19th century (1850) it has previously been used as a small hotel as well as a café & a night club . Following extensive renovations & rebuilding during 2007 & the early months of 2008 this wonderfully preserved stone building has now been converted into seven luxury apartments with private off-road parking extra large swimming pool. The apartment in La Bastide des Lavandieres has been completed & furnished to a very high standard with all the facilities & amenities you would expect to find in any top class accomodation including French Digital TV , UK Satellite TV & Free W-Fi Internet. Even though we havn’t actually moved any closer to the coast we now have a lovely sandy beach just a 15 minute drive away from us in Alés where in Summer 2010 a very nice man-made river beach was created . The beach which is officially open from early June until the end of August is on the bank of the Gardon River & it has some excellent facilities including easy parking , shallow water swimming for kids , showers , a lifeguard , beach volleyball , boules , pedal boating , kayaking , water bubbles , a café bar & a Restaurant . You can also rent sun loungers, umbrella’s , kayaks , pedal boats etc … At night time during summer there is normally a DJ or other free musical entertainment throughout the entire week. Although it is not a substitute for the stunning beaches of the Med it is still a nice place on a sunny day . "

See the personal website of the owner" Le Bastide des Lavandieres is located at a cross-road in the centre of the little village of Canaules which is literally surrounded by the vines & vineyards of the wonderful Languedoc wine producing region of southern France. If you feel like seeing the vines close-up or learning a bit more about how wine is produced & blended then a short trip to the nearest village - St. Jean de Serres (2km) will take you to LVI vineyard & cave which guests at La Bastide des Lavandieres are welcome to visit . You may even be interested in our vine ownership scheme or buying a few bottles of our famous Galway Bay label to take home as a reminder of your stay in the south of France . If you feel like a bit of exercise there are bicycles available at La Bastide for you to cycle to St. Jean de Serres or to explore the surrounding area at your leisure . Road traffic tends to be a lot lighter here than in many other areas of mainland Europe so generally speaking ( once you take all normal precautions ) cycling is a safe activity for guests of all ages . If cycling around the French countryside seems a bit too energetic for you then maybe you’d like to stretch out & read a book in the sun beside the swimming pool or on the large paved seating area at the front of the apartments . With an average 300 days of sunshine each year you will be literally spoilt for choice when it comes to outdoor activities . Activities available nearby include Golf, Horse Riding , Fishing , Water Sports , Climbing & Hill-walking . The Cévennes National Park with it’s wonderful flora & fauna . "
