BEST LOCATION if most famous sights should be reached by foot.--- MAGICIANS, THE GREENS, BANKERS and FILMMAKERS Gutschow House, built in 1895 by famous German architects Kaiser & v. Groszheim , represents an important work of historicism (gothic revival and new renaissance). Due to the complex façade design, its location and its history, the house is the city landmark of southern Friedrichstraße. It is the only house of the area which 100% survived the 2nd world war. Was this, because from 1910 until 1990 was here the Mecca of the Magicians due to the magic center of the world famous illusionist Conradi-Horster ? 2006 the green party conjured a unique project: all tenants received the first right of refusal and got the chance to buy and develop this famous house by creating a partnership with investors (first were two former bank chairmen, later filmmakers). But why only we made use of this right? This is a part of Berlin living past and present that you can experience. "We greatly enjoyed our stay. The apartment was very clean, decorated to a very high standard, and delightfully quiet, even though we had the windows open in August and we were in central Berlin. We are a family of five - two adults and three children aged 14, 12 and 9. Our landlord was quick to help us in every way. If we needed something for the flat, such as a corkscrew or an iron, he got one for us straight away. He also gave us helpful advice on getting around Berlin, and even took us on a walking tour of the neighbourhood. Our discussions with him added to our knowledge of and interest in this exciting and history-laden city. Do not be put off by the run-down state of the communal areas such as the stairwells in the building, as they give no indication of the state of the apartment upstairs. The building itself is very interesting, and the facade is very beautiful. Our landlord told us it was the sole surviving building on that part of Friedrichstrasse that survived the bombing of the second world war. The building is very close Checkpoint Charlie, where there is a museum, and is very close to two underground stations. We were a short underground ride away from both the Brandenburg Gate and Potsdamer Platz. We found we could get to most of the main sites in Berlin in a matter of minutes. Our favourite attraction was the Deutches Historisches Museum on Unter Den Linten, which was renovated recently and provides a thorough overview of German history from the Roman times to 1989."

"iMMEUBLE idéalement placé pour visiter la ville.On peut garer sa voiture dans la cour, à condition de ne pas posséder comme nous un gros 4X4.Sinon possibilité de stationner facilement dans la rue.Les communs de l''immeuble sont très moches et en mauvais état.Une fois la porte de l''appartement ouverte, quel contraste!!! l''appartement est vaste, très bien décoré avec goût et matériaux de qualité.Rien ne manque.De plus l''immeuble est très calme .La propreté est irréprochable."
