Means of access Leaving the Airport, take the express road passing Funchal towards Arco da Calheta. In Arco da Calheta, you will find one first rotund and you exit of it on the first exit that will take you to a second rotund. You will exit on the second exit (direction - Ledo). You will find a crossroad and you will turn left. You will find, in your right side, a bar called “Bar Massapez”. 200 meters after that bar, you will find a street that goes up to Casa do Calhau Grande.
Hints and Tips Casa do Calhau Grande is located on the west side of the Island of Madeira, in the town of Calheta, in the village of “Arco da Calheta”. The name of the village was given to it because of the configuration of the surrounding mountains and its proximity relative to the village of Calheta.
It is about 45 km from the airport (45 minutes) and 30 km from Funchal (30 minutes).
It has a 180º view over the Atlantic and is excellently located, close to the sea (7 minutes from Calheta Beach) and mountains (15 minutes from Rabaçal), where you can easily explore the maritime coast, the levadas, the mountains and the "Laurissilva" forests, through scenic passages by car, de motorbike, bicycle or by foot.
