Apartment furnished near the castle of Amboise

"The flat had all necessary for living. The location is great: close to the castles. And we took bicycles and were cycling the surrounding chateaux. We aren’t very well in cycling, but it was comfortable for us to drive out from Amboise, because we could use streets where there were not a lot of cars and tourists. And of course some words about owners. I think they were the loveliest friendly owners that I have ever met in my live. They gave us all information that is necessary for the tourist in the new place. "

"Great location in the town of Amboise. The apartment was bright, clean, spacious and welcoming. Good kitchen with all necessary utensils and appliances. Great views over garden toward the castle, and pleasant outdoor setting for fine weather. Car parking directly outside the property in the street, and no disadvantage from not being available on the site. The owner greeted us warmly when we arrived and explained how everything operated in the apartment. We appreciated her time and effort to assist us to settle in. We had a very enjoyable week in Amboise in our very pleasant temporary home."

"Physically the value for money of the property was great but it was the owners who made it exceptional. Picking us up and returning us to the station allayed all our discomfort in a country thousands of kilometres from home, in a place we had so little knowledge of, knew nobody and couldn't speak the language. This constantly smiling couple confidently identified us at the station (probably because we looked lost) and treated us as family while insisting on carrying our very heavy luggage to their car, then after giving us a comprehensive driven overview of the area they unpacked our luggage and placed it in the apartment for us. We received the identical treatment on departure. So much did they make us feel welcome that on many occassions I thought they were actually asking us home to their place. With their infinite patience the language barrier never posed a problem and if there was any hint that we needed something they tried their utmost to try and help us. On one occassion they even went out of their way to arrange a meeting with a neighbour who was an ex-pat Australian. Our entire visit to France (over a month) has totaly dispelled any notion that the French are an arrogant race of people and in the case of Mr & Mrs Briand I hope there are many, many more of them. If I were ever to have the opportunity of staying in the Amboise area again I would not consider any other property. Hopefully, this testament will not cause them to raise their rates though."
