Means of access The village of Amaliapolis is midway between Athens and Thessaloniki, situated on a large bay in the Pagasitic Gulf on the east coast of Greece. It is approx. 53km south of the city of Volos from where Jason and the Argonauts set sail. There are charter flights to Volos Airport (13km) May-September with Air-Berlin and Monarch or you can fly to Athens or Thessaloniki which are served by many airlines. Either pick up a hire-car at the airport or we can arrange for a taxi to meet your flight and bring you to the villa. Its location and ease of access to the motorway (approx. 14km) means Amaliapolis is a good base for trips to Delphi, Meteora and the Pelion peninsula with its beautiful beaches, mountain villages and spectacular scenery.
Hints and Tips The Village: In the village centre you will find a choice of cafes/bars and tavernas, with excellent fish, three of which stay open all year, all within walking distance of the villa. The village also has two bakeries and two general stores. The beach is also within walking distance of the apartment and is sandy and gently sloping - making it very suitable for young children. There is also a children’s playground, 5-a-side football pitch and volleyball court next to the beach. In high season there are 2 beach bars. In summer Amaliapolis is popular with holidaying Greek families. You can experience the 'real' Greece here largely untouched by mass market tourism. Sit in the village square looking out over the sea and watch the world go by… The Area: As well as the village beach there are several good beaches within a 30 minute drive. You can also take a boat trip to the island of Skiathos from the nearby village of Achillion.
