The region
Pays de la Loire is placed in the North-Western part of France, on the
Atlantic cost. It is composed of five departments which are
Loire-Atlantique,
Maine-et-Loire,
Mayenne,
Sarthe and
Vendée. It is a very diverse region which will satisfy everyone’s character.
One of the peculiarities of the region is its numerous authentic cities. You could visit
Nantes and its famous mediaeval districts or its shipowners’ houses.
Saint-Nazaire, well-known for its port where huge liners are built, is also very nice.
Saumur is the city of horses which owns by itself 54 monuments listed on the French preserved patrimony. Those who like urban tourism will love other towns such as the old
Laval or the Napoleonic
Roche-sur-Yon which will welcome you.
Far from the towns, nature is present and beautiful. You could book a room in a cozy
Bed and Breakfast or
rent a house to spend a good time for
holidays or for a short stay. The region disposes of many trails for hiking to discover by walking, by biking or by riding horses. More precisely, you could enjoy flora and fauna in the regional natural
park of Brière. Birds are especially the center of attention in some ornithological sites, in the Aiguillon bay for instance.
Those who prefer the sea could try the water of one of the numerous sea resorts of the region. The charms of
Les Sables d’Olonne,
Pornic or
La Baule will astonish you. You could practice water sports in the rough sea or relax in one of the mineral spring centers which offer you the best from the close ocean.
